Bailen 1808: une victoria decisiva, recreates this pivotal battle, an unexpected confrontation that marked a turning point in the struggle against Napoleonic domination.

The game shares the same system as our other Napoleonic titles, such as Waterloo 1815 and Austerlitz 1805.

Units are represented by wooden blocks, which not only offer a unique visual appeal but also facilitate a clear visualization of movements on the battlefield.

Bailén 1808 Key Points

  • Easy to Learn System
  • Unrestricted Unit Movement: Enjoy complete freedom to maneuver your units across the map. There are no areas or hex grids; the map remains clean and unencumbered.
  • Total Historical Immersion: Dive deep into the historical context of the battle.
  • Enhanced Realism: Experience new rules designed to bring greater authenticity and realism to the battlefield.
  • Crucial Command and Troop Deployment: The strategic positioning of your commanders and troops is fundamental to victory.
  • Dynamic Formation Changes: Master the art of adapting your units' formations on the fly.

The game contains 51 wooden pieces of different sizes (depending on the unit type) and a set of adhesive labels to stick onto these blocks. There are four types of units, and each contains the following information:

  • Infantry: These are the backbone of armies. They include Line, Light, and Guard and Elite (French Elite) Infantry.
  • Cavalry: Mobile units for scouting, charging, and pursuit. They include Light, Medium, and Heavy (French) Cavalry.
  • Artillery: Provide long-range fire support. They include foot and horse artillery.
  • Commands (HQ): Represent leaders and their staff, crucial for morale and coordination.

Since the map is not divided into areas or hexes, unit movement is measured using a basic movement marker (UM).

  • Infantry units can move up to 2 UM;
  • cavalry, up to 4 UM; and
  • Headquarters (HQ), up to 6 UM.
