COMPLETE GAME with pre-cut counters: Operation Licorne 2002–2011

France in Combat in Côte d’Ivoire

November 2002: Côte d’Ivoire, once a symbol of French stability in Africa, erupts into conflict. A rebellion takes hold of the northern part of the country. France urgently reinforces its units on the ground. Operation Licorne begins. Convoys race north and west to secure the area and evacuate Western civilians (“Ivorian Twilight”), then defensive positions are established to block any rebel advance southward (“Sagaie and VBL in the Mix” and “Don’t Push Calvi!”). Starting in early 2003, the situation stabilizes, but sudden outbreaks of violence lead to fighting against the rebels or against loyalists (“Armored Medical Evacuation”). The crisis comes to an abrupt end in 2011, with final battles in Abidjan culminating in Gbagbo’s arrest (“The End of Gbagbo”).

These five scenarios are presented using the En Pointe Toujours! rulebook, in its latest version adapted for modern combat.

French soldiers and Ivorian rebels, armored vehicles, armed pickup trucks, rocket launchers, and missile launchers are all part of the action. Will you be able to secure victory for the French forces? Will the rebels achieve their objectives despite the intervention of French elite troops?
