This is a standalone variant of the campaign game included in the Solferino Quad - this option is meant to be more affordable for those only interested in the campaign and not the individual battles.
The Long Century Operations Series brings the Second War of Italian Unification to life in "Risorgimento." As an operational-scale game, players will control the whole armies of the Franco-Italian allies and the Imperial Austrians in a campaign for the fate of Italy. Will there finally be an Italy for Italians, or will old habits of territorial dominion prove too difficult for a "modern" Europe to shake off?
This is the newest/latest version of the game engine introduced years ago with 1870 - The War Against the Empire. It is an operational system focusing on command, resource management and force projection.
This game includes 2 scenarios, one covering the 1859 campaign and the other shorter scenario covering the campaign starting at Magenta.
Each unit represents roughly a brigade of cavalry or infantry which can be commanded by HQ units representing divisional, corps, and army commanders. Battles are fought using a newly updated and refined LCOS core rules system.
