SEKIGAHARA 1600
In the 16th century, Japan was going through one of the most troubled periods in its history, the Sengoku Jidai, the "Age of Warring Provinces" or rather the "Warring Kingdoms".
The Battle of Sekigahara took place in Japan on October 21, 1600, and is considered one of the most important battles in Japanese history. It pitted two rival factions, the Eastern forces led by Tokugawa Ieyasu and the Western forces led by Ishida Mitsunari, against each other in an all-day battle.
The eastern forces were made up of samurai from various clans, including those of Tokugawa, while the western forces were made up of samurai from the Mori, Shimazu, Ukita and other clans. In all, some 160,000 men (combatants and non-combatants) took part in the battle, which took place on a vast plain near the town of Sekigahara.
